LINE automation — reach 95 M daily users from any workflow

CommunicationMarketingAutomationProductivitySupport

LINE is Japan and Southeast Asia's dominant messaging platform, with 95 million daily active users across chat, calls, payments, and a full Bot API. Connect it to Actionist and your agents can send text, image, Flex, and template messages; react to follow, postback, and beacon events; manage group memberships; and push real-time alerts to individuals or channels — all triggered by activity in your CRM, ticketing system, or spreadsheets without a single manual message.

Support ticket resolved to LINE in 60s

When a customer emails your support address, your agent reads the Gmail thread, checks the user's LINE chat history for prior context, sends them a personalised LINE text message acknowledging receipt and expected response time, posts a Slack summary to the CS team, and blocks a 30-minute resolution slot on the engineer's Google Calendar — all before a human has opened a single tab.

How to plug Line into Actionist

Pick the connection method that suits your environment.

The LINE MCP server connects Actionist directly to the LINE Messaging API — send messages, receive webhooks, and manage channels from any agent or workflow without writing OAuth boilerplate. It's the fastest path from natural-language instruction to LINE action.

1
Open the Apps tab

Find LINE in the Apps library and click Connect. MCP is selected by default.

2
Authorise your LINE channel

You'll be redirected to the LINE Developer Console. Select your Messaging API channel, then grant Actionist the permissions to send messages and receive webhook events.

3
Test the connection

Actionist runs a read-only call to verify the handshake. You're ready.

FAQs

Questions about Line + Actionist

How do I connect LINE to Actionist?
Open the Apps tab, find LINE, and click Connect. The MCP path is recommended — you'll be redirected to the LINE Developer Console to select your Messaging API channel and grant message-send and webhook permissions. The whole process takes under three minutes. If you prefer a token-based setup, switch to the API Token method and paste your channel access token or LINE Notify personal access token.
What credentials does LINE require?
The MCP path uses OAuth via the LINE Developer Console — no tokens to manage manually. For the API Token method you need either a channel access token (long-lived, from the LINE Developer Console → your Messaging API channel → Messaging API tab) or a LINE Notify personal access token (from https://notify-bot.line.me/my/). Both grant send access; the channel token also covers webhook and profile reads.
Can I send messages to users who haven't messaged the bot first?
Yes — the LINE Messaging API push message endpoint lets the agent send to any user ID who has followed your Official Account, without waiting for them to initiate a chat. For groups, the agent can push to any group the bot belongs to. LINE Notify is user-scoped and requires the recipient to have granted access to your Notify service, so it's better for self-service subscriptions.
How do I avoid triggering a reply loop when my agent responds to messages?
Two safeguards: first, the Reply to message action consumes a reply token that expires after a single use — the same token can't fire twice, so a double-send is impossible. Second, any subsequent proactive messages should use the Send text message push endpoint, and your workflow should check a cooldown flag (stored in Google Sheets or Actionist memory) before sending — if the flag is set within the past 5 minutes, skip the send. This pattern handles the vast majority of loop risks.
What message types does Actionist support for LINE?
Actionist covers the full LINE Messaging API surface: text, sticker, image, video, audio, Flex Messages (custom layout with buttons), and template messages (buttons, confirm, and carousel). The Send notification action also covers LINE Notify for lightweight server-to-user pushes. For rich interactive experiences — approval cards, carousels, postback buttons — use Send flex message or Send template message.
Does LINE rate-limit message sends?
Yes. The LINE Messaging API has a push message quota that depends on your plan: the free tier allows 500 push messages per month, while paid plans scale from 5,000 to unlimited. Reply messages (responding to a webhook event within the valid reply token window) don't count against the quota. Actionist respects the API's 429 rate-limit responses and will surface an error if your workflow exceeds the monthly cap — monitor your quota in the LINE Developer Console.
Can I use LINE triggers for scheduled automations?
LINE triggers (Follow, Message received, Postback, Beacon) are event-driven — they fire in real time when something happens in LINE, not on a schedule. For scheduled automations (e.g. weekly LINE digests), use Actionist's built-in Calendar scheduler to fire your workflow on a cron schedule, then call the Send text message or Send notification action. The Calendar section on this page shows 28 ready-made scheduled job templates.
How do I disconnect LINE from Actionist?
Open the Apps tab, find LINE in your connected apps, and click Disconnect. Actionist will immediately stop sending messages and receiving webhook events. Your LINE Official Account and its webhook URL will remain unchanged in the LINE Developer Console — you'll need to remove or update the webhook URL there if you don't want LINE to continue attempting to deliver events to the old endpoint.
