The open-source commerce platform your agents can actually run

SalesMarketingAnalyticsFinanceEcommerceSupportAutomation

Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) is the open-source e-commerce engine powering thousands of B2C and B2B storefronts, from direct-to-consumer brands to wholesale distributors. Connect it to Actionist and your agents can create and update products, process and ship orders, manage customer accounts, generate invoices, and react to store events — in plain English, without anyone logging into the admin panel. The result is a store that operates itself around the clock, surfacing exceptions to humans only when a decision is genuinely needed.

Order issue resolved before customer notices

When a customer emails about a missing item or damaged shipment, the agent reads the order from Magento 2, updates the order status, posts a proactive resolution message in Slack for the support lead, and books a follow-up call on Google Calendar — all before the rep has finished reading the ticket. Customers get a resolution email in under five minutes instead of waiting 24 hours.

What your team gets back — two angles: what you stop doing manually, and what that's worth.

Without Actionist

What you do manually today

With Actionist

What your agent runs for you

  • Sales
    19 min / week
    Manual B2B order follow-up

Sales reps query the admin panel to identify high-value new orders, then individually reach out to buyers — a 19-minute-per-week drain spread across dozens of orders.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
Agent spots and acts on high-value orders instantly

Agent detects orders over the B2B threshold, enriches the buyer profile, and queues a CRM task and calendar slot before the rep's next coffee break.

  • Marketing
    14 min / week
    Cart abandonment email setup

Marketer exports abandoned-cart data, segments by value, applies discount rules, and triggers emails manually — repeated weekly for each campaign.

    Marketing Agent
    0 min
Agent sends personalised recovery emails automatically

Agent fires a recovery sequence within the hour, applying the right discount tier per customer group without any manual export or list build.

  • Customer Support
    19 min / week
    Order lookup for WISMO tickets

Support reps log into Magento admin to look up order status, carrier, and tracking number for each 'where is my order' contact — eating 19 minutes every week per agent.

    Customer Support Agent
    0 min
Agent serves order status before rep reads the ticket

Agent fetches order details from Magento 2 and pastes the tracking link directly into the support thread in under 30 seconds.

  • Human Resources
    8 min / week
    New-hire store access provisioning

HR emails ops to create Magento admin accounts for new employees, a back-and-forth that delays access by hours and consumes 8 minutes of coordination per hire.

    Human Resources Agent
    0 min
Agent creates and configures store accounts on day one

Agent creates the Magento 2 customer or admin account with the correct role and group the moment the HR system confirms the start date.

  • Finance
    14 min / week
    Month-end invoice reconciliation

Finance exports Magento invoices to a spreadsheet, cross-references against the payment gateway, and manually flags mismatches — a 14-minute chore repeated for hundreds of invoices.

    Finance Agent
    0 min
Agent reconciles invoices and flags discrepancies automatically

Agent compares Magento 2 invoices against gateway records in real time and opens a task for every mismatch, so finance only reviews exceptions.

  • Operations
    30 min / week
    Daily inventory level monitoring

Ops logs into Magento admin each morning to check stock levels across hundreds of SKUs, then manually creates reorder requests for anything below threshold — 30 minutes every day.

    Operations Agent
    0 min
Agent monitors stock and triggers reorders automatically

Agent watches Magento 2 product quantities continuously and drafts a purchase order the instant any SKU crosses the reorder threshold.

  • Legal
    6 min / week
    GDPR deletion request processing

Legal receives a data erasure request, locates the customer record in Magento admin, deletes it, and logs the action in the compliance register — a 6-minute task per request.

    Legal Agent
    0 min
Agent deletes records and logs compliance evidence instantly

Agent receives the erasure request, deletes the Magento 2 customer record, and appends a timestamped entry to the compliance log within minutes.

Connect

How to plug Magento 2 into Actionist

Pick the connection method that suits your environment.

The fastest path to your Magento 2 store. Install the MCP server in one click; the agent authenticates via your store's REST API through a permissioned token handshake, then gains access to the full catalog, order, and customer surface — no custom code, no middleware.

1
Open the Apps tab

Find Magento 2 in the Apps library and click Connect. MCP is selected by default.

2
Enter your store host and access token

Provide your Magento 2 store base URL (e.g. https://store.example.com) and the integration access token you generate in System > Extensions > Integrations in your Magento Admin Panel.

3
Test the connection

Actionist runs a read-only call to verify the handshake. You're ready.

FAQs

Questions about Magento 2 + Actionist

How do I connect Magento 2 to Actionist?
Open the Apps tab, find Magento 2, and click Connect. You will need your store's base URL and an integration access token generated in your Magento Admin under System > Extensions > Integrations. Activate the integration, copy the token, paste it into Actionist, and click Test connection — the agent validates the handshake with a read-only catalog call.
What permissions does the integration access token need?
At minimum, grant the Catalog, Sales (Orders + Invoices), and Customer resource permissions. If your agents will ship orders or cancel them, also include the Shipments and Creditmemos scopes. Principle of least privilege applies — scope down to exactly what your workflows use, especially for production stores handling real customer data.
Can I connect multiple Magento 2 storefronts to one Actionist workspace?
Yes. Add each store as a separate Magento 2 connection with its own base URL and access token. You can then route agent actions to the correct storefront using the connection selector in your workflow steps — useful for multi-brand or multi-region setups sharing a single Actionist account.
What kinds of orders and customers can the agent access?
The agent can read and write across the full Magento 2 REST API surface: simple and configurable products, all order statuses (pending, processing, complete, canceled), invoices, shipments, and all customer record types including guests. B2B-specific objects like company accounts and negotiable quotes require Adobe Commerce Enterprise and the corresponding API scopes.
How do I avoid creating duplicate customers or orders?
Before creating a new customer, instruct the agent to call Get a customer with the email address first; if a record is returned, switch to Update a customer instead of Create. For orders, always check the order reference or increment ID before writing. Magento 2 does not enforce email uniqueness by default, so the pre-check step is your safeguard against duplicates.
Can the agent react to Magento 2 events like order placed or cart abandoned?
Yes. Actionist supports eight Magento 2 trigger events — Order placed, Order shipped, Order canceled, Invoice created, Customer registered, Product low stock, Cart abandoned, and Customer review submitted. Configure a webhook in Magento 2 pointing to Actionist's trigger endpoint, or use a scheduled polling step if your store version does not support outbound webhooks natively.
Will the agent's actions appear in the Magento admin activity log?
Yes. All writes made through the REST API are attributed to the integration user associated with the access token, and they appear in the Magento 2 admin action log under Reports > Action Logs if the module is enabled. Name your integration clearly (e.g. 'Actionist Agent') so admin users can distinguish automated writes from human edits at a glance.
What should I do if the agent hits Magento 2 API rate limits?
Magento 2's default rate limit is 1,000 REST requests per minute per integration token. For bulk operations like catalog imports or end-of-day order sweeps, split large batches into pages of 100 and add a short pause between pages. If your store uses Adobe Commerce Cloud, check your plan's rate-limit tier — enterprise plans support higher throughput and can be increased via Adobe support.
