Build database apps without code — and automate every row

ProductivityDatabaseAnalyticsDeveloperFormsAutomation

Caspio is a low-code cloud platform that lets you build online database applications — forms, reports, charts, REST APIs — on top of a fully managed relational database, without writing a line of back-end code. Connect it to Actionist and your agents can insert and update records, submit forms that trigger Caspio's built-in workflows, run saved queries for real-time reports, and react to row-level events the moment data changes. The result: your Caspio apps stop being passive data stores and start driving live business operations.

Customer churn signal to CSM in 60 seconds

When a Caspio row flagging a churn-risk account is inserted, the agent reads the full customer record from Caspio, cross-references open support cases, and delivers a prioritised briefing card to the assigned CSM in Slack — with the renewal date, last login, and top three complaints surfaced — before the customer-success lead has finished their morning coffee. The CSM walks into every at-risk conversation fully prepared, not scrambling for context.

How to plug Caspio into Actionist

Pick the connection method that suits your environment.

The fastest path to connecting Caspio. Actionist's MCP server uses OAuth to reach your Caspio account directly — no tokens to rotate, no credentials to paste, and every action is scoped to the tables and apps you explicitly authorise.

1
Open the Apps tab

Find Caspio in the Apps library and click Connect. MCP is selected by default.

2
Authorise in Caspio

You'll be redirected to Caspio's OAuth consent screen. Select the application(s) you want Actionist to access and approve the requested scopes (read tables, write rows, submit forms).

3
Test the connection

Actionist runs a read-only call to verify the handshake. You're ready.

FAQs

Questions about Caspio + Actionist

How does Actionist connect to my Caspio account?
Actionist connects via Caspio's OAuth 2.0 REST API. During setup, you authorise Actionist to access specific Caspio applications; it receives a scoped access token and handles renewal automatically. No credentials are stored in plain text.
Which Caspio objects can the agent read and write?
The agent can read and write tables, views, forms, files, and application users. It can also run pre-built saved queries and retrieve application-level stats. Objects inside a Caspio application that are not exposed via the REST API — such as DataPage visual configurations — are not accessible.
Can the agent trigger Caspio's built-in triggered actions and workflows?
Yes — when the agent submits a Caspio form (rather than inserting directly into a table), all server-side triggered actions, email notifications, and workflow rules defined on that form fire exactly as they would for a human submission. Direct row inserts bypass form-level logic, so choose the method that matches your intent.
How do I avoid infinite loops when my agent updates a row that triggers another update?
Use a sentinel field: add a boolean column like agent_updated to your Caspio table and set it to true when the agent writes the row. Configure your Row updated trigger to fire only when agent_updated is false, then clear the field after the agent's write. This breaks the feedback loop at the data layer without any custom code.
What are Caspio's API rate limits and how does Actionist handle them?
Caspio's REST API enforces rate limits per account tier — typically 100 requests per second on standard plans. Actionist batches bulk operations and respects HTTP 429 responses with automatic exponential back-off, so high-volume workflows slow gracefully rather than failing. For sustained high throughput, contact Caspio to increase your API quota.
Can the agent work with Caspio DataPages and web forms?
The agent can submit any Caspio web form that is publicly accessible or accessible via authenticated session, using the Submit form action. It cannot visually edit DataPage layouts — those require the Caspio drag-and-drop builder. For programmatic data access, querying tables and views directly is more reliable than scraping DataPage output.
How does the agent handle Caspio file storage?
The agent uses Get file by path to retrieve files and Upload file to store new ones. Files are referenced by their Caspio path string, which the agent records in the relevant table row. Downloaded files are processed in memory and never persisted to Actionist's storage — they are forwarded directly to the next action in the workflow.
What Caspio plan do I need to use the REST API with Actionist?
Caspio's REST API is available on Bridge and higher plans. The free or starter tiers do not include API access. Check your current plan in the Caspio Bridge portal under Account → Subscription. If the API credentials option is greyed out, you will need to upgrade before connecting Actionist.
