Email marketing on autopilot — subscribers, broadcasts, lists

EmailMarketingAutomationCRMForms

AWeber is an email marketing platform built for creators, small businesses, and marketers who live in their subscriber lists. Connect it to Actionist and your agents can create and tag subscribers in real time, send targeted broadcasts the moment a trigger fires, audit list health, and sync email segments with your CRM — all without exporting a CSV or manually touching AWeber's UI.

Churn signal to re-engagement email

When a churned customer's cancellation email lands in Gmail, your agent checks their AWeber subscriber record for last-open date and campaign history, then updates their list status and enrols them in a personalised win-back sequence — a Slack alert fires to the CSM and a calendar reminder drops for a 14-day check-in call. The whole recovery motion runs in under 60 seconds.

What your team gets back — two angles: what you stop doing manually, and what that's worth.

Without Actionist

What you do manually today

With Actionist

What your agent runs for you

  • Sales
    18 min / week
    Manual post-close list update

Rep exports a CSV after every closed deal and imports it into AWeber to move the contact into the 'Paying Customers' list — 18 minutes of busywork per deal.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
    Agent syncs the segment instantly

The moment a deal is marked closed, the agent finds or creates the subscriber and updates their plan field — segment is accurate before the rep sends the handoff email.

  • Marketing
    13 min / week
    Broadcast prep and send

Marketer manually assembles the week's newsletter, pastes it into AWeber, selects the list, and schedules the send — a 13-minute ritual every time a broadcast goes out.

    Marketing Agent
    0 min
Agent drafts and queues the broadcast

The agent composes the broadcast from a template and content feed, creates it in AWeber, and queues it for one-click approval — copy-paste is eliminated entirely.

  • Customer Support
    18 min / week
    Manual unsubscribe on opt-out

Support agent receives an opt-out request via email or ticket, manually searches AWeber, and unsubscribes the contact — 18 minutes per week across the team.

    Customer Support Agent
    0 min
    Agent processes opt-outs in seconds

When an opt-out arrives, the agent calls Unsubscribe Email immediately and logs the timestamp — the contact is removed before the next scheduled send fires.

  • Human Resources
    7 min / week
    Employee newsletter list updates

HR manually adds new hires and removes leavers from the internal communications AWeber list each onboarding cycle — 7 minutes per hire/departure.

    Human Resources Agent
    0 min
Agent syncs the HR list automatically

When an employee is added or removed from the HRIS, the agent creates or unsubscribes them in the internal AWeber list on the same day — no HR ticket required.

  • Finance
    13 min / week
    Subscriber count reconciliation

Finance manually checks the AWeber subscriber count each month to verify it aligns with the platform billing tier — 13 minutes of cross-referencing dashboards.

    Finance Agent
    0 min
    Agent monitors and reports count

On the first of each month, the agent fetches the account subscriber total and appends it to the billing forecast sheet — finance has the number before AWeber sends the invoice.

  • Operations
    25 min / week
    Post-event lead deduplication

Ops team manually deduplicates a trade-show CSV against the existing AWeber list before importing — 25 minutes of VLOOKUP gymnastics per event.

    Operations Agent
    0 min
    Agent runs idempotent upserts

For each row in the import sheet, the agent calls Find or Create Subscriber — duplicates are silently merged, new contacts are added, and the run summary is logged automatically.

  • Legal
    6 min / week
    GDPR deletion verification

Legal team manually confirms that a data-deletion request was actioned in AWeber by searching for the email address — 6 minutes per request including audit logging.

    Legal Agent
    0 min
    Agent executes and logs deletion

When a deletion request is received, the agent unsubscribes the email, checks the record is removed, and writes a timestamped log entry to the compliance sheet — auditable in seconds.

Connect

How to plug AWeber into Actionist

Pick the connection method that suits your environment.

The fastest path to AWeber. Connect via AWeber's MCP server and your agent gains permissioned access to subscribers, lists, and broadcasts through a single OAuth handshake — no API keys to rotate, no token expiry to track.

1
Open the Apps tab

Find AWeber in the Apps library and click Connect. MCP is selected by default.

2
Authorise in AWeber

You'll be redirected to AWeber's OAuth page. Log in with your AWeber account and click Allow Access. Actionist receives a scoped token; no password is stored.

3
Test the connection

Actionist runs a read-only call to verify the handshake. You're ready.

FAQs

Questions about AWeber + Actionist

What AWeber permissions does Actionist need to connect?
Via MCP/OAuth, Actionist requests scoped access to manage subscribers, lists, and broadcasts within your AWeber account. It does not request billing or admin credentials. You can review and revoke the token at any time from AWeber → My Apps.
Can the agent subscribe contacts to multiple lists at once?
AWeber's API creates a subscriber on one list per call. To add a contact to multiple lists, the agent runs Create Subscriber (or Find or Create Subscriber) sequentially for each list. Actionist handles this automatically when you describe the outcome in plain language.
How do I prevent the agent from triggering autoresponders on imported contacts?
When creating or updating a subscriber, the agent can set the 'no autoresponder' flag in the API call. If you're bulk-importing an existing list and want to suppress welcome sequences, tell the agent to import with autoresponders disabled — it sets this at the subscriber level, not the list level.
What happens if the agent calls Create Subscriber for an email already on the list?
AWeber returns the existing subscriber rather than creating a duplicate. For guaranteed idempotency — where you want to update fields if the contact exists — use Find or Create Subscriber instead. This is the pattern the agent uses for all import workflows.
Can Actionist send broadcasts immediately, or only schedule them?
Both. The Send Broadcast action dispatches a pre-created broadcast immediately. If you want scheduled delivery, use Create Broadcast to draft the message with a future send time, then the agent marks it ready — AWeber handles the timed dispatch.
How does the New Subscriber trigger avoid processing the same contact twice?
AWeber fires the trigger once per confirmed subscription. Actionist checks the subscriber's status before acting — if the agent has already processed a contact (e.g. the webhook fired twice due to a retry), Find Subscriber returns the existing record and the agent skips the creation step rather than duplicating downstream actions.
Does the agent support AWeber's custom subscriber fields?
Yes. When creating or updating subscribers, the agent maps values to your custom fields by name. Define the field in AWeber first, then reference it by its exact field name when instructing the agent — it handles the API mapping automatically.
What AWeber plan is required to use all of Actionist's actions?
The full action set — including broadcasts, tags, and multi-list management — requires an AWeber Pro plan or higher. Free and Lite plans restrict broadcast sending and advanced segmentation. The agent will surface an error message if a call requires a plan feature not available on the connected account.
