Call, email, and close — your agent handles the paperwork

CRMSalesCommunicationEmailAnalyticsAutomationProductivity

Close is the sales CRM built for high-velocity teams — with calling, SMS, and email built in so reps never leave the app to communicate. Connect Close to Actionist and your agent can create leads the moment a form fires, update opportunity stages after every call, send follow-up emails from the rep's inbox, and pull pipeline reports on demand — all without your reps touching the keyboard. The result: reps spend time selling, not logging.

Inbound email to onboarded lead in 90 seconds

When a prospect emails your sales address, your agent reads the message, pulls up any existing Close lead for that domain, creates a new contact and opportunity if none exists, logs the inbound email as a Close activity, and pings the assigned rep in Slack with the prospect's context and a direct link to the lead — all before the rep has seen the notification. The entire intake sequence that used to take 15 minutes of manual CRM work completes in under 90 seconds, and no lead ever falls through the inbox gap.

What your team gets back — two angles: what you stop doing manually, and what that's worth.

Without Actionist

What you do manually today

With Actionist

What your agent runs for you

  • Sales
    26 min / week
    Manual call logging

Reps spend 15–20 minutes after each call documenting notes, updating lead status, and creating follow-up tasks by hand.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
    Agent logs and routes calls

The agent reads the call transcript, writes a Close note, updates the opportunity stage, and creates a follow-up task — rep gets on to the next call.

  • Marketing
    19 min / week
    Lead handoff from forms

Marketing manually exports form submissions and pastes them into Close, introducing a lag of hours before sales gets the lead.

    Marketing Agent
    0 min
    Instant CRM entry from forms

When a form fires, the agent creates the Close lead, assigns it by round-robin, and sends an acknowledgement email — lead response time drops to under 2 minutes.

  • Customer Support
    26 min / week
    Renewal flag in CRM

Support manually searches Close for customers nearing renewal and creates reminder tasks when contract dates are approaching — usually done inconsistently.

    Customer Support Agent
    0 min
    Agent flags renewals proactively

When a subscription object is updated with a 60-day renewal window, the agent creates the renewal task and notifies the account owner in Slack automatically.

  • Human Resources
    11 min / week
    New hire CRM access

HR manually adds each new sales hire to Close as a user, sends them the API key guide, and follows up to confirm they've connected their inbox.

    Human Resources Agent
    0 min
    Agent provisions on hire

When a new rep's Slack account is created, the agent runs Add User in Close, assigns them to the right team, and sends a setup checklist via direct message.

  • Finance
    19 min / week
    Pipeline export for forecasting

Finance pings sales ops each week for a Close export, waits for the CSV, then manually reformats it for the revenue forecast model.

    Finance Agent
    0 min
    Scheduled pipeline report

The agent runs Close's opportunity report each Monday morning and pushes formatted results to the finance Google Sheet before the 9 AM forecast call.

  • Operations
    40 min / week
    Activity report compilation

Ops collects call counts, email volumes, and lead status changes from Close by hand each week to build the sales performance dashboard.

    Operations Agent
    0 min
    Agent compiles activity digest

The agent runs the activity overview report on a schedule, formats key metrics into a Slack digest, and posts it to #sales-ops every Friday at 4 PM.

  • Legal
    9 min / week
    Audit log of lead exports

Legal manually tracks who exported what from Close and when, relying on email threads to reconstruct the data access audit trail.

    Legal Agent
    0 min
    Automatic export audit trail

When an export job completes, the agent logs the export event — timestamp, requester, scope — into a compliance Notion database and archives the file.

FAQs

Questions about Close + Actionist

How does the agent connect to my Close account?
The MCP path is the recommended option: click Connect in the Apps tab, authorise with your Close credentials, and the agent gains permissioned access to your CRM via the official Close MCP server at mcp.close.com. If you prefer direct API access, generate a personal API key in Close Settings → Integrations → API Keys and paste it into Actionist. The API token is scoped to the generating user, so use a dedicated service account in production.
Which Close objects can the agent read and write?
Leads, contacts, opportunities, calls, call recordings, call transcripts, notes, tasks, emails, SMS messages, WhatsApp messages, and custom objects. The agent can also run built-in reports (activity overview, opportunity funnel, sent email, status change) and manage Smart Views, workflow subscriptions, and user assignments. The full action catalog is visible on this page.
Will the agent trigger a loop if it updates a lead that has a trigger on it?
Yes — if you have a trigger watching for lead updates and your agent updates leads, it will re-fire unless you guard against it. The safest pattern is to check the update source (the agent should tag its writes with a custom activity or note marker) and filter the trigger to only fire when a human makes the change. Alternatively, use separate Close workflows for agent-initiated vs human-initiated paths.
Can the agent send emails and SMS from my rep's Close inbox?
Yes — Create Email and Create SMS write directly into Close's built-in inbox and messaging layer, using the connected rep's credentials. The agent can compose, send, or save as draft. For outbound campaigns, use Create Bulk Email to send to a filtered lead set. All sent messages appear in Close's activity timeline exactly as if the rep sent them manually.
How does the agent handle call recordings and transcripts?
Close generates a transcript after each recorded call. The New Call Recording trigger fires when the audio file is ready; New Call Transcript fires once Close's transcription engine has processed the text. Both are real-time webhooks with sub-minute latency. The agent can read the transcript, extract action items, draft follow-up emails, update lead notes, and route clips — all before the rep has opened their post-call checklist.
What are Smart Views and can the agent use them?
Smart Views are saved filter queries in Close — think of them as live-updating lead segments (e.g. 'Enterprise trials with no call in 7 days'). The agent can create and update Smart Views, count leads inside them with Find Number of Leads in Smart View, and react when a new contact or lead enters a view via the trigger. Use them to build intent-based automations without writing custom queries each time.
Can the agent run Close reports on a schedule?
Yes — Run Opportunity Report, Run Activity Overview Report, Run Opportunity Funnel Report, Run Status Change Report, and Run Sent Email Report are all available actions. Pair any of these with a scheduled trigger in Actionist (e.g. every Monday at 08:00) and the agent will pull the report, format the output, and push it to Slack, Google Sheets, or wherever your team reviews metrics.
What happens if I disconnect Close from Actionist?
Active trigger listeners stop firing immediately. Any in-flight workflow runs that are mid-execution will complete their current step and then halt — they won't error out, but subsequent Close actions in the run won't execute. Reconnecting restores triggers from the moment of reconnection; events that fired while disconnected are not replayed. To avoid losing inbound triggers during an auth refresh, reconnect during a low-activity window.
